Baby Loss Awareness Week: PRCA signs Pregnancy Loss Pledge
The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) has urged organisations to support staff through the distress of miscarriage after it signed the Miscarriage Association’s Pregnancy Loss Pledge.
The pledge - announced during Baby Loss Awareness Week - requires employers to implement policies that support staff who face the trauma of baby loss.
The PRCA has called on members and the broader industry to support the pledge, which includes;
- Creating an environment where people can share their pregnancy loss without discrimination
- Implementing policies around pregnancy-related leave, ensuring staff take the time off they need
- Being empathetic, responsive and flexible to the needs of those experiencing pregnancy loss.

PRCA Head of Engagement, Vin Kaur commented:
“Between 2020 and 2021 I suffered two miscarriages seven months apart. They were the hardest moments I have ever had to endure in my life.
“I was fortunate to receive the support and care I needed from colleagues but it’s not the same for everyone. I would urge employers to sign up to the Pledge and provide support to those who need it.”

PRCA Deputy Director General Renna Markson commented:
“Anyone who lives through the tragedy of pregnancy or baby loss deserves the full and unreserved support of their colleagues.
Two-thirds of industry professionals are women. We know many of our members will have experienced the trauma of pregnancy loss, alongside the burden of inadequate workplace support. It’s vital our industry shows leadership on this issue and delivers the support needed to those affected.”
