Press release -
PRCA joins CBI to strengthen industry representation
The Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) has joined the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) as a member, reinforcing its commitment to championing the PR and communications industry within the broader business landscape.
The move aligns with PRCA’s strategic objective to serve as an industry champion, deepening engagement with business and government to secure better representation for the sector.
The PRCA’s membership with the CBI will provide the industry with a stronger voice on economic and policy matters, including the role of AI in communications, skills development, and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices.
Through this collaboration, the PRCA will contribute to the CBI’s advocacy efforts, ensuring the PR and communications industry’s perspectives are considered in key business discussions.
The PRCA has already joined the CBI in making representation on behalf of members at various levels of government about the unintended consequences of the upcoming Employment Rights Bill.
PRCA Interim CEO, Sarah Waddington CBE, said:
“Our membership with the CBI is a bold step in advancing the PRCA’s mission to strengthen the public relations, communications and public affairs professions. As the UK’s leading business organisation, the CBI is a vital conduit between industry and government, and we are excited to contribute to its discussions on the economy, AI, skills, ESG, and more.
“This partnership will allow us to advocate for the role of communications in driving sustainable business success while providing our members with valuable opportunities to engage at the highest levels.”
CBI CEO, Rain Newton-Smith, said:
“We are thrilled to welcome the PRCA as new members of the CBI, joining the community of industry associations from across the whole of the UK economy working with us at a crunch time for growth. Against a backdrop of global uncertainty, the government’s economic policies at home will be put to the test – creating an industrial strategy that kickstarts growth, matching skills to economic needs, and accelerating to net zero.
The ideas, innovation and investment necessary will come from our members - business leaders around the UK. In a tough economic environment, this government must prioritise restoring business confidence at home, while setting forth its ambitions for the UK on the global stage. The PRCA's expertise in public relations and communications will be invaluable as we work together to drive positive change and growth in the economy and we look forward to working with the team and supporting their efforts to represent the economic contribution of this exciting and innovative sector.”
